About me and my Cats

My name is Marianne Munk. For more than 45 years I have worked as a librarian. I have now retired which gives me a lot of time to be together with my cats, to read and to grow my beloved rose garden.
|
My cattery consists of 9 cats: 1 male and 8 females.
I only breed a few litters a year. For many years I only had sealpoint siameses, but during the last few years I have got other colours and even an oriental shorthair and a balinese.
How it all started:
Already as a child I loved cats and I have had many common cats. But since I got a siamese kitten from a friend in 1975 I have been totally fascinated and enchanted by these wonderful, elegant and exciting cats.
During the following 20 years I constantly had 2 or 3 siamese cats and also had several litters of kittens, but I was not a member of any breeders' club. However - in the 1990'es I lost all my cats - first because of Feline AIDS and later because of Feline Leukemia .
I was very unhappy and looked around to find a new Siamese kitten, and in 1997 I succeeded to buy a male kitten ”Esquire Naryschkina” from Heide Petersen on an exhibition in Herning. She convinced me that I had to become a serious breeder and exhibitor so I joined the breeders' club JYRAK and purchased the cattery name Troldkær.
Later on I bought the females Fiona, Harmony and Nobless, all from the cattery Naryschkina, and began to breed seriously and to exhibit.
At the exhibitions I have met a lot of kind and helpful breeders and owners of siamese cats and cats of other races, and I would like to thank all those who have helped me on my way by selling me kittens and matings and sharing their knowledge about cats with me!
My breed:
Like most breeders I would like to breed beautiful harmonic, slender and elegant Siamese cats of a classical type - so beautiful that they can make a good impression at an exhibition, but the most important thing to me is health and good temper. For reasons of space I have to limit the number of cats in my home, and though I should wish to keep a kitten from every litter or buy new cats, I try to provide that my breed does not accelerate too much.
That is why I breed not more than one or two litters a year, and when I have kittens I try to spend as much of my time as possible with them in order to make them happy, healthy and harmonic kittens who are accustomed to be together with humans.
Kittens bought at Troldkaer's naturally have a Felis Danica pedigree and have had a health check, vaccination and a vermifuge treatment.
I only sell kittens to good and permanent homes, and because the Siamese cat is not fit for being alone, homes with other cats will be preferred. I don't let the kittens go until they are about 4 months old as I think they are best prepared to leave their home at that age.
The surroundings:
|
I live with my cats in a large old house in the countryside about 15 miles to the south of Kolding. I am a devoted gardener and I have a large garden which is open to visitors the first week-end of July every summer. |
|
The cats have access to all rooms in the house but are not allowed to go out of doors. For that reason I have built a large enclosure of 30 m2 for them.
